Omale Joseph Scholarship was established in 2014, with a vision to support ambitious students who come from rural areas or students who may have lost his/her sponsor/Parent and have limited support towards their education and may be in financial difficulties.
The Scholarship is named after the founder Omale Joseph, a recipient of the Emeritus Prof. Ade-Ajayi family Trust that enabled him complete his university education at the University of Ilorin.
It is hoped that beneficiaries of the Scholarship will contribute meaningfully to the intellectual, social, and political environment of the institution and be proactively prepared for graduate and professional experience and to address the country’s most pressing needs
The program offers a scholarship that provides full tuition and accommodation. It is renewable but subject to re-application for a total of four years of undergraduate study, provided recipients demonstrate evidence of financial difficulty while maintaining a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.

 Eligibility
  1. Must be an Undergraduate Student of University of Ilorin.
  2.  Must be registered in full time programme
  3.  Be in good academic standing
  4. Scholarships are available for study at undergraduate only
  5. Only students enrolled in Mechanical engineering are eligible to apply.
  6. Students must be in their second, third, fourth or fifth year of study
  7. The eligibility of a candidate is linked to neediness of the candidate as determined & assessed by the financial background of his/her family.
  8. Awardees cannot hold any other scholarship that provide cover for the complete expenditure of their studies ( Tuition Fee + Hostel + Food expenses) like Exxon/NNPC scholarship, University Scholar merit scholarship etc.
  9.  Candidate must be a citizen of Nigeria
Application Requirement
  1. Evidence of Admission – Submission of Admission Letter.
  2. A letter of personal reference from a University Senior Staff e.g. Dean, HOD, Level advisor, Senior Lecturer
  3. Two page Goal Statement to include a brief biography.
  4. Grade Transcript or equivalent from university
  5. Proof of country citizenship.
Please note: Recipients may be requested to submit a color photograph for publicity purposes.
Note: Preference will be given to students who are having difficulties in continuing their education as a results of financial difficulties. While we encourage applications from all ambitious, well-rounded students, the most competitive applicants will be selected.
Selection All Scholarship applications will be submitted through the website for evaluation and selection by Scholarship Committee.

Awards Scholarship funds are for tuition and accommodation only, not to exceed #50,000 (Naira/year.)
All funds are transferred, e.g. wired/mailed, to the University Of Ilorin directly. Any unused funds are required to be returned. No awards will be paid directly to the recipients.
