PhD Scholarships in the fields of Psychology, Behaviour and Achievement (Funded)

The Centre for Research in Psychology, Behaviour and Achievement is vibrant research community for researchers with interests in a broad range of psychological and social topics.
Our work is captured by five main themes: literacy, violence and interpersonal aggression, identity and resilience in communities and organisations, atypical development, and brain, belief and behaviour. More detail on these themes can be found at www.coventry.ac.uk/crpba
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed research candidates who are interested in undertaking a PhD in one of the following topics:
• Understanding the impact of children’s exposure to digital texts
• From talking toddler to reading child: Elucidating causal links between early language skills and literacy ability
• Transfer effects in spelling between Language 1 and Language 2 in bilingual participants with typical and atypical spelling performance
• Morphology in speech and reading: Evidence from eye-movements.
• Lost in Translation: Detecting Challenges and Testing Interventions for Children’s Forensic Testimonies with Translators
• Understanding gun control in Europe
• Safety and resilience in children exposed to intimate partner violence
• Group-based and collective emotions in national-level events (e.g., megasporting events, post-disaster recovery or other national events )
• Development of an adult resilience scale in the context of service
• Sex Offending Behaviour in Autism
• Sleep, Neurochemistry and Comorbidities in Autism
• Modelling the social, cognitive and physiological associates of sleep problems and dementia in adults with Down syndrome
• The Evolution of Belief
We plan to offer funding to cover UK/EU fees and a bursary for three years to the four strongest candidates, and we will offer to cover UK / EU fees to up to 10 additional candidates. We therefore also invite existing self-funding or part funded research students who are registered for a research degree with our research centre to apply, using their existing project as the basis for their application.

Candidate Specification
Applicants should have at least a good (i.e. 2:1 or higher) undergraduate degree in psychology. Experience and / or knowledge of the topic area in the proposal is an advantage. Excellent communication skills are required.

Funding notes:
Tuition fees up to the cost of UK/EU fees and for up to 3 years for up to four candidates, and UK / EU fees only for up to 10 candidates.
