Our PhD students are linked to major companies, have access to extensive research and computing facilities, and participate in large scale international collaborative projects, providing them with an unforgettable research experience.
Everything we do as humans in the 21st Century, from relaxing to socialising, and from working to travelling, requires a relationship with digital technology. The Institute for Digital Technologies offers research and teaching excellence, across all major areas of digital technologies, including interactive 3D media, advanced 5G systems, big multi-media data, smart living and cybersecurity.
Loughborough University London is offering a number of fully-funded studentships within the Institute of Digital Technologies in the following key areas:
• Audio Visual Signal Processing
• Active Noise Control
• 5G Mobile Communication Systems
• Internet of Things (IoT)
• Smart Environment
• Autonomous Systems
• Big Data Analytics and Visualisation
• Cyber Security
The studentships include the full cost of tuition fees for the duration of your 3-year programme, as well as a tax-free stipend of £16,296 (inclusive of London weighting) for UK, EU and International students. The stipend will be paid in monthly instalments for the duration of your PhD.
The Institute for Digital Technologies will allocate 3 studentships to UK/EU applicants and 2 studentships to international applicants.

Loughborough University London is located on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, within a new innovation quarter known as Here East. Now the site is a hub for the UK’s thriving creative and digital industries.
