Overseas Research Students Awards at Department of Computer Science University of York, UK

These awards are for new overseas PhD students and will cover the difference between UK/EU and overseas tuition fees for the three-year PhD programme. Two of these studentships are available for 2016 entry and will be awarded on a competitive basis.
Requirements for application:
Applicants must possess outstanding academic ability:
• normally, a Bachelors: Honours 1st or equivalent OR Masters: Distinction or equivalent, though applicants with strong subsequent academic or industrial careers will be considered.
• a native speaker, or educated in English, or IELTS at level 6.5 with no element below 6
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the motivation and skills needed to complete a PhD:
• a proposal that evidences good academic writing and referencing styles
• an appreciation of the nature of PhD student, of PhD-level academic supervision, and of independent and collaborative research
• clear motivation for undertaking PhD study, in York, in the chosen area, with the chosen supervisor(s)
• evidence that the candidate has, or can develop, the skills required for the proposed research
Applicants must be able to meet the balance of the tuition fees and living expenses for the duration of the three-year PhD programme;
Applicants must be able to start the PhD at the beginning of the York academic year.
Decisions:
Competitive funding offers for October 2016 entry will be notified on 23 February 2016.
