The Centre for Service Excellence (CenSE) is an interdisciplinary research and engagement centre within the University of Edinburgh Business School. It is offering a fully funded PhD studentship on the above topic.
Applications are welcome for proposals that explore any facet of the reform of public services and which advance our understanding of the processes/impacts of such reform. CenSE is committed to understanding public services as ‘services’ and exploring the implications of this for both theory and practice about public services delivery.
Proposals will be especially welcome that are located within the New Public Governance literature (e.g. Osborne 2010) and/or which test and extend the Public Service-Dominant Logic paradigm (Osborne et al 2013, 2015).
Inter alia, these might explore:
- The concepts of 'value' and 'value co-creation' in public services delivery.
- Public service innovation.
- Co-production.
- The management and impact of public service processes and/or public service networks.
- Public service delivery systems and the applicability of such techniques as 'service blueprinting'.
- Resilience and sustainability in public services delivery.
- Sectoral or comparative differences in the application of PSDL.
- Good proposals on other topics will also be considered.
