Institute of Physical Chemistry and Physics of Polymers – Division Nanostructured Materials
We invite applications for a PhD position (m/f) control and analysis of biochemical syntheses in micro-structured reactor systems
The project aims at designing, understanding and optimizing cellular functions such as gene expression and enzymatic reactions in a novel in vitro approach involving advanced microfluidic flow cells. We are particularly interested in on-chip manipulation of experimental conditions of biochemical reactions and the integration of in situ-analytical tools (fluorescence, SERS, light and X-ray absorption/scattering).
The position is available immediately.
Duration: 3,5 years
Salary: According to German pay grade TVL-13
Desired skills and experience
Required skills for scientists who wish to apply include in-depth knowledge in microfluidics
on device design and fabrication as well as integration of functional
components (electrodes, membranes, valves, heating pads). Experience in
FEM simulation (COMSOL), microbiology, macromolecular and colloid
chemistry as well as confocal microscopy and 3D printing techniques
(stereo lithography, FDM) is a plus. It is expected that the applicant
is capable to operate a photo and soft lithography lab and support other
users, work in an interdisciplinary research group, and show excellent
communication skills (listening, perceptual acuity, speaking, and
writing) in English – German is an asset.
Highly motivated candidates with an excellent track record and strong publications should send their application with research interests, full CV including a detailed list of experimental and computational skills, names and contact information of 2 references.
