Molecular Biologist / Biochemist needed in UK

Molecular Biologist / Biochemist
Location: Harpenden, Hertfordshire
Modification of trehalose 6-phosphate (T6P) levels in crops is providing one of the most promising means of combining improvements in crop yield with resilience, addressing global issues of food security.
This particular project builds on the seminal and pioneering advances by Rothamsted in understanding the T6P/SnRK1 pathway in plants and crops as a sucrose fuel gauge which, in harness with novel biotechnological approaches is making large yield gains in the field, particularly under drought. The current project focuses on the important cereal maize to provide detailed mechanistic information of how yield increases are mediated through the T6P/SnRK1 signalling pathway.
The post is a great opportunity for someone wishing to move ahead in their career and would suit highly motivated molecular biologists and biochemists experienced in using different methods of isolating and working with proteins and protein complexes with demonstrated record of tangible outcomes including publications in international journals, or if early researcher demonstrated potential in this aspect.
Candidates must be goal driven and solution orientated with good communication and networking skills to facilitate excellent interactions and relations at all levels as part of a team.
This full-time post is funded for 2 years with a starting salary in the range of £29,842 to £32,315 dependent on experience.
